The GDC Connect Watched Items Feature

One of the truly interesting and useful features of the GDC Connect system for Prophet 21® is the ability to "Watch" an item. 

The Watched Item feature allows you to flag a variety of items so that they will appear on the GDC Connect Dashboards and in the Watched Items Listing.

From the Dashboards or Watched Item Listing you can quickly view either the Item Watch with notes and description, or the watched item itself. In addition to this, when an item is flagged for a watch, it will be highlighted in the various drill-downs and detail screens.

The Watched Items system allows you to flag the following items:

• Customers
• Invoices
• Orders
• Sales Reps

Each Watched Item can have attributes including Priority, Watched Item Category, Description and Watched Item Notes.

Priority

When you add a watch to an item you have the option of assigning a Priority to the item. The priority categories include Low, Medium and High and allows you to determine at a glance which of your action items you should pay the most attention to.

For instance, you might prioritize an extremely low-profit order as "High" while prioritizing a customer sales opportunity as "Medium".

Watched Item Category

In addition to assigning a watch priority, you can also assign custom watch categories to an item. The Connect system pre-defines a list of these custom categories. There are several of these categories including "Low Profit", "High Profit", "Declining Sales", "Exceptional Sales", "Shipping", etc.

You can edit these categories and add as many new Watched Item Categories as you like in System Setup.
